A while ago it was announced Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill are starring in a film based on the 1997 Vanity Fair article The Ballad of Richard Jewell written by Marie Brenner. The article and the film will tell the story of Richard Jewell, a security guard at the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta who discovered a suspicious backpack and in a heroic attempt helped clear bystanders before the bomb exploded, he was later vilified as a possible terrorist which lead to his image and life going through a disastrous path only to be cleared by the FBI three months later.
Deadline is reporting that Director Paul Greengrass is looking into joining the project, which fits the real-life movie-making taste we know he has from directing United 93 and Captain Phillips. The script for the film is written by Billy Ray (who also wrote the script for Captain Phillips) and will see Hill play the heroic security guard and DiCaprio as his lawyer. This film is shaping up to be something to take notice of, the Oscar caliber talent getting involved definitely gives great signs for the project.
