First 'Star Wars' Spinoff Movie to Shoot in London's Pinewood Studios

It is already a none fact that Disney is planning to give us spinoff films along with the regular Star Wars titles. Episode VII, which was officially titled Star Wars: The Force Awakens recently wrapped up shooting at London's Pinewood Studios, but it appears the studio will also be the home for the first Star Wars spinoff film and possibly other future titles. It was reported that Disney has locked down the space and is returning to Pinewood Studios to also shoot the spinoff movie.

THR reported on the return of Star Wars to Pinewood Studios after wrapping The Force Awakens, which was announced by Pinewood Shepperton CEO Ivan Dunleavy at a conference in London. No specifics were given on the project, but the comments were the following:
"The seventh Star Wars movie just finished shooting at Pinewood. And I'm delighted to be able to tell you that a new Star Wars movie is already booked in. R2D2 was built in the U.K. 37 years ago, since then, he's spent a lot of his life in foreign studios. But now he's back home."
The return of Star Wars is feeling more and more real as time goes by, and this announcement adds to solidifying that return. We have a title for the upcoming film, and now learning that the next film has a shooting schedule in place is great. I hope and it is looking likely that we get a trailer or a first look at The Force Awakens soon, and details on the first spinoff film should also be on the way. The first Star Wars spinoff will be directed by Gareth Edwards and is set to be released on December 16th, 2016.
