Jeremy Renner Talks Hawkeye Movie

After Marvel's standalone superhero films lead to The Avengers, there were members of the team that did not get and have not gotten yet a shot at their own solo films, those being Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow, so that has presented the reappearing question if they will get their own films. Most recently the talk has been around Hawkeye, actor Jeremy Renner made some comments recently about possibly appearing in Captain America 3 and even the Russo brothers commented on that.

Now Renner is talking Hawkeye again, on an interview with MTV the actor discussed his place in the MCU and his thoughts on a Hawkeye solo film, plus teased a possible involvement in Captain America 3. The actor touched on some unhappiness of the introduction of Hawkeye in Avengers, "The only way he (Joss Whedon) could do it and have me in the movie with any sort of sizable part, is to have me be the bad guy, essentially, and not Hawkeye. It’s a tough introduction to the character. It’s not what we talked about and got me excited about doing the movie. But that’s fine."

When asked about his desire of a Hawkeye solo film or to remain a part of the team-up movies the actor said,  "I’m happy to be the ensemble. I’m not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means. I think he’s a utility guy that can bounce around into other people’s universes a little bit, especially like ‘Cap 3.’ " (The comments were followed by two winks at the camera).

This still doesn't confirm that Hawkeye will appear in Cap 3 but it looks like Renner is having fun with the tease, I do agree with him on not wanting a Hawkeye solo film because I also think that characters like his and Black Widow work better as supporting roles. The rumbling will go on until we get any type of official confirmation, so in the mean time we can just wait for Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America 3 coming out in May 1st, 2015 and May 6th, 2016, respectively.
