Dwayne Johnson Starring in 'The Janson Directive'; Akiva Goldsman Writing Script

Dwayne Johnson has announced his most recent role, the actor has gone on Twitter to confirm that he will star in Universal's The Janson Directive. The film is an adaptation of a novel of the same name written by Robert Ludlum, that follows a legendary former agent in the Consular Operations agency that finds himself on the run for his life after a rescue attempt goes very wrong. Johnson also announces in his post that Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman will write the script for The Janson Directive.

The premise of the film sounds basic as far as action movies go and Dwayne Johnson fits into this type of action role, he is way overdue for leading a successful franchise and this could very well be the one. Adapting this novel Universal seemingly wants to start another Bourne type series and with the success they had with those films it would make sense, getting an award-winning writer to pen the script is also a great move but no further information is known about the film at the moment, so not much left to add.
