'Jungle Book' Writer in talks for 'Top Gun 2'

Top Gun 2 has been through some ups and downs and has gone from being that long awaited sequel that will never be made to the sequel that is made long after its predecessor. The sequel to the 1980s hit was well in the works with a first draft of the script by Peter Craig and Tom Cruise ready to reprise his role as Maverick, but the passing of Director Tony Scott put the project on hold.

The project is now looking to be regaining momentum as THR reports that Jungle Book writer Justin Marks is in negotiations to develop a script. Comments from producer Jerry Bruckheimer affirmed that the storyline for Top Gun 2 would follow an older Maverick trying to prove his relevance as a old school pilot in a high-tech drone era.

Hopefully the project will not hit any more bumps down the road and can continue to develop, and after all the issues and effort being put into making this film lets cross our fingers so that the film when completed won't be just another sequel that waited too long to happen and failed.
