Robert Downey Jr. has been promoting his film The Judge, but it is only natural that he gets bombarded with questions about Marvel, The Avengers and Iron Man. While on the Ellen show yesterday, Downey Jr. was asked about there being an Iron Man 4, to which he responded:
"I know there's going to be more Marvel movies, and they have big ideas of how to do it best. We're in the middle of negotiations, blah blah blah."Those comments led everyone to think that Downey Jr. confirmed an Iron Man 4, which the comments seem to point out, but apparently that is not the case. While on another interview on The Late Show later last night, Downey Jr. was asked again if there would be an Iron Man 4 and this time he went back to saying that there were no plans for it and there was no script:
"Just between us, no — but I'm going to do other stuff with Marvel. I'm still going to be involved with Marvel and there's going to be plenty of other fun stuff."If this whole thing can teach us anything is that we have to always wait for official confirmation about these things, we can't take what actors say as anything official, specially with Marvel that plays their cards so close to the chest and is pretty controlling with their properties. We can speculate all we want but we won't be sure until Marvel makes an announcement, that being said, be there or not an Iron Man 4, the question of Robert Downey Jr.'s future with Marvel is still very interesting. We will just have to wait and see what happens, for now we can expect to see him in two more Avengers films, and on that note, Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1st, 2015.
