Deadline is reporting that both Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass are in early stages of negotiations that would reunite the actor and director for Bourne 5, and THR adds that if the deal goes well Greengrass would also be writing the script for the film. Universal wants to continue both the story of Jason Bourne and spinoff character Aaron Cross, they had set a July 16th, 2016 release date for the spinoff sequel but that looks like it would be pushed to make room for Bourne 5. This franchise is a proven money maker for the studio but with Bourne Legacy to me it feels like it's loosing steam, so maybe bringing the character that made it famous back would give the franchise the spark it needs and also help the spinoffs they have in their plans.

Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass Return for 'Bourne 5'
Universal is looking to keep their Bourne franchise going and is moving forward with it. The word going around is that Matt Damon will return to his role as Jason Bourne and Paul Greengrass will also be back to direct his third film in the series. The franchise is coming off a spinoff film that starred Jeremy Renner and has a sequel in development so this news presents the question of what will happen with that sequel.
