Andrew Garfield Comments on Spider-Man appearing in 'Sinister Six'

Sony has been long-term planning the expansion of their cinematic universe around Spider-Man, at the moment we know that a Sinister Six movie is coming in 2016, both a Venom and a female super hero lead film in development supposedly for 2017, and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 set to be released in 2018. Sinister Six will be presumably focused around the villain team-up which leads to the question if Spider-Man would even be in the film.

The Toronto Sun recently caught up with Andrew Garfield at the Toronto International Film Festival and asked about the involvement of Spider-Man in the upcoming spinoff. When asked about how there could be a Spider-Man villain movie without Spider-man the actor responded  “I know more than I’m allowed to say right now. I can say I’m really excited about Drew Goddard, who’s going to be writing and directing The Sinister Six movie. And whether I’m involved in that or not is kind of immaterial.”

These comments to me point out that Spider-Man has to be involved with the film at some level, I don't think he would know anything about the film unless he was actually attached and he did say he knows more than he was allowed to say, plus the villains have to team up in Sinister Six for a reason and it would make no sense for that reason to be something other that to fight Spider-Man. The film will most likely focus on the point of view of the villains so Spider-Man would probably have a secondary role but will still appear in the movie in my opinion.
