The plot follows a young American college student payed by Josh Hutcherson that falls in love with a girl while on a trip to Colombia only to find out later on that her uncle is none other than Pablo Escobar. The trailer for the film looks great but seems like the film will focus on the love story and shows the drug kingpin as seen by the eyes of the couple with Hutcherson apparently getting involved in the "family business", which to be honest is a little bit of a let down. I mentioned the film played in the Telluride Film Festival and as Slash Film points out, the reviews of the film point to del Toro's performance as the best part of the film. The film has no US release date for the time being but will play in the Toronto Film Festival this month, check out the trailer for Escobar: Paradise Lost below.
