Ang Lee to Direct Film Based on Iraq War Novel
According to Deadline, Ang Lee will direct a film adaptation of the Iraq war novel Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk written by Ben Fountain. The story follows Billy Lynn and his squad as they become heroes after surviving a battle in Iraq, the squad is brought home to do a tour supporting the war and are set to return to the fight after appearing in the halftime show of a football game. Lee will direct the film from a script written by Simon Beaufoy.
The story from the book sounds very interesting, having to deal with what the squad went through, then promote it and have to return to that sounds like something crazy to deal with and seems like it would make something pretty good to see on the big screen. Ang Lee is an amazing director and you definitely have to pay attention to anything he gets attached to so I'm curious to what this film will shape up to be.
