It was a while ago that it was reported that Ron Howard's Inferno would begin shooting in April next year, and the film originally received a December 18th, 2015 release date. Now it looks like there will be a shift and the film will be released the following year in October 14th, 2016 (via Collider). Based on the popular Dan Brown novel and starring Tom Hanks, Inferno reunites us with Robert Langdon, who gets sucked into a world centering on Dante's famous poem and must fight against a chilling enemy, solving riddles that will take him through classic art, secret passageways and futuristic science.
The film is still supposed to begin filming in April 2015, so the shift in release date doesn't worry me too much. Word going around is that the film moved dates so that it wouldn't have to open against Star Wars: Episode VII, which if true would make complete sense, but no official reason for the move has been given, so it could just end up being scheduling problems. Either way, Inferno is now set to hit theaters on October 14th, 2016.
