Javier Bardem in Talks for Villain Role in 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is gearing up to begin filming in February in Australia, so the project must gather up its stars, Jhonny Depp is expected to return to his beloved role as Captain Jack Sparrow, the question remains who will he be squaring off against. The word is that Javier Bardem could be the villain in this next installment, the actor is in early talks for a role in the film.

The Wrap shared the exclusive that Javier Bardem is in early stages of negotiations to get the villain role in Pirates of the Caribbean 5. Bardem would reportedly play the pirate Captain Bard, who is seeking revenge on Jack Sparrow for the murder of his brother.

We have to keep in mind that none of this is officially confirmed, and the report is just that the actor is in negotiations for the role and not that he has already gotten it. Being that Bardem lands the role, I would think that he would be a great fit, I am not really that into another Pirates film, but a caliber talent as Bardem as the villain can only help the film. As said, Jhonny Depp is expected to reprise his role along with Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa, there are also talks of Orlando Bloom making an appearance but nothing official at the moment. Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is set to hit theaters on July 7th, 2017.
