'My Little Pony' Film in the Works for 2017

Hasbro Studios is looking to expand their movie franchises by introducing a new one to the mix. It has been announced that the studio has given the greenlight to develop a My Little Pony movie, joining properties like Transformers, G.I. Joe and Jem and the Holograms.

Variety gave the exclusive that a My Little Pony film is in the works, with plans for the animated movie to be released in 2017. Ice Age: Continental Drift writer Joe Ballarini has been brought on board to write the script, but no plot information was revealed. The My Little Pony characters where introduced in 1983 and since then, the toy property has enjoyed success in sales and launched four animated series, with the most current being My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

In all honesty I won't be lining up to go see the film when it hits theaters, but I can completely see why this film would be made and how it could work and succeed. This has been such a successful franchise that it should definitely try its luck on the big screen, I'm sure little girls and all other fans of the franchise will definitely be excited to get to see this in theaters.
