'The LEGO Movie 2' Being Written by Phil Lord and Chris Miller

The LEGO Movie 2 was announced to be developed a while ago, which shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone, since the first film was a huge success grossing $468 million worldwide. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who wrote and directed the first one, were announced to produce the sequel, but with no word on who is set to direct the second installment, that posed the question of what further involvement Lord and Miller would have in the film. That question has now been answered, since it was reported that Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been set to write the script for The LEGO Movie 2.

Deadline reported on Warner Bros. signing Phil Lord and Chris Miller to write The LEGO Movie 2. There has not been an announcement on a director for the sequel, so this reportedly leaves the door open for Lord and Miller to return as directors as well if they choose to do so.

When films like The LEGO Movie have such success, I think it is a good move for a sequel to bring back the people involved that made the first film perform so well, being that they bring something new and fresh that will add to the new film. So for The LEGO Movie 2 to have Phil Lord and Chris Miller returning to write the script sounds like the best of ideas. It would be great if they would also direct again, but that is still unknown for the time being.
