'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' to Begin Filming in 2015 in Australia

It looks like production on Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is heading to Australia to begin filming in February 2015. This next installment in the franchise hasn't had smooth sailing, the release date of the film was pushed back from 2015 before settling for July 7th, 2017, hopefully with a date being set for filming to begin the production will have no more set backs.

The Sydney Morning Herald (via Collider) reports that Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will begin filming in Queensland, Australia as early as February 2015. The production was made possible by the transfer of funds from the failed 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea film to Pirates 5. Queensland Arts Minister Ian Walker commented on the production schedule:

"Pre-production is starting on the Gold Coast as we speak, and production of the film will start next year on the Gold Coast in February, before it moves to North Queensland."

Johnny Depp is expected to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow but no cast has been announced for the film, names like Geoffrey Rush, Jack Davenport and Orlando Bloom have been mentioned, but again, nothing official for the time being.
