'The Crow' Reboot Could Lose Luke Evans

If there is a list of movies that have had a very hard time getting made, a special spot has to be reserved for the reboot of the 1994 film The Crow. The original film wasn't without its share of problems as well with the tragic passing of star Brandon Lee during filming, but granted that was far worse than mere production issues. The reboot at this point has gone through 4 different directors, Stephen Norrington, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and F. Javier Gutierrez, all before recently landing in the hands of Corin Hardy. As far as the leading role goes it has been circled by Bradley CooperChanning Tatum, Mark Wahlberg, James McAvoy, Tom Hiddleston, and Alexander Skarsgard, before Luke Evans ended up taking the part. But now, comments made by Evans hint that he may depart from the project, or that it is at least not happening anytime soon.

While on an interview with Den of Geek (via Collider), Evans was asked if the project was progressing and the actor said the following:
"It's not, no. No at the minute The Crow is not, not for me, I think it's a little… I mean I'm sure it's going to go ahead at some point, but I have other projects that are greenlit and ready to go and projects that I'm very interested in and you know, I can't wait much longer! [laughs]"
These comments are very discouraging to say the least, and you have to wonder if at this point the film is even worth making. Sure, it has been long enough for the film to get a reboot, but with all the issues at some point you have to ask yourself if it is worth it to keep trying, and if the lead actor that has seen into the project a bit more makes statements like these, something must be going very wrong. But who knows, this could end up being the last setback and with the new director the next piece of news could be some movement forward for The Crow reboot.
