John Lee Hancock in Talks to Direct 'The Founder', a Story Behind McDonald's

McDonald's is the biggest fast food chain in the world and a billion-dollar empire, but you have probably wondered how the company started and how it got to where it is now. Turns out you probably won't have to wait too long to get to see that story on the big screen, because the story behind McDonald's is getting a Hollywood treatment. Director John Lee Hancock is reportedly in talks to direct The Founder, the story of the expansion of McDonald's.

THR gave the exclusive on the director of The Blind Side and Saving Mr. Banks being in talks to direct The Founder. The script is written by Robert Siegel, and will tell the story of how Illinois salesman Ray Kroc met Mac and Dick McDonald, putting himself in a position to take the company from the brothers and turning the 1950s burger operation in Southern California into a billion-dollar empire. Variety also reported the news, and added that actors Micheal Keaton and Tom Hanks are being eyed to star in the film.

I like this piece of news all around, I like the story that is intended to be told and the possible director and actors attached. Hancock has recently done a great job with telling great dramatic stories based on true events with The Blind Side and Saving Mr. Banks, so he would be a great fit for a film like this. Tom Hanks and Michael Keaton are incredibly talented actors so the possibility of their addition is also something that would be great for the film. We'll see what happens, but overall this project sounds very interesting to me.
