Ryan Reynolds Closing Deal for 'Deadpool'

Deadpool fans rejoiced when the announcement of the film came along, but even though Ryan Reynolds had been long attached to the project and even voiced the character in the "leaked" test footage, there was no official confirmation as to who would be starring in the film as the "Merc with a Mouth." Well, as if we weren't already expecting it to be so, that confirmation has come, and it appears Ryan Reynolds will indeed star in the upcoming Deadpool.

Deadline reported on the actor closing a deal with Fox to star in the film, and Reynolds himself chipped in to confirm the moving forward of production for Deadpool by posting an image on his Twitter account. The film will be directed by Tim Miller and the script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg are producing, with production set to start in March.

This casting was really expected and it was only a matter of time before an official confirmation was made, so not much to say there because this was obviously the way to go. But it is great to hear that production is moving forward and actually get a date, specially with this film that has been long trying to be made. I'm very excited for this film and can't wait to see the character used correctly on screen and played by Ryan Reynolds. The question still remains on what rating the film will have, and for the nature of this character that is an important question. Deadpool is set to be released in February 2016.
