Apparently it is becoming somewhat of a trend to talk about Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs biopic every couple of weeks, unfortunately not for good reasons. The last piece of news that was going around was that Natalie Portman had entered discussions with Universal to star in the film, but it looks like those talks went nowhere, with the actress now reportedly having passed on the role.Variety reported on the departure of Portman from the project after just recently beginning negotiations, but gave no specific reason as to why the actresses passed on the role. According to the report other actresses are meeting for the part, and the film is still on track to make the production date which is expected to be sometime next Spring. The Aaron Sorkin-scripted film reportedly still has Michael Fassbender attached to star as Steve Jobs and Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak.
Well, it seems like this film is no stranger to actors departing at this point, so like all the other times, this one is also disappointing to hear. Loosing high-caliber talent like Natalie Portman can't be good, but doesn't mean that they won't find someone else to do a great job. Hopefully production can stay on track like the studio is expecting, we will probably hear about another actress entering talks soon.
