Benedict Cumberbatch Confirmed for 'Doctor Strange'

Finally it has been confirmed, after many rumors, negotiations, and almost closed deals, the official confirmation of the casting of Doctor Strange has been made. The wishes and expectations of many have come true because Benedict Cumberbatch has been officially confirmed to take on the role of the Sorcerer Supreme in Marvel's upcoming Doctor Strange.

The official announcement comes directly from Marvel, confirming the casting of Cumberbatch on their website. Doctor Strange will be directed by Scott Derrickson from a script by Jon Spaihts, introducing audiences to the realm of the mystic arts. Producer Kevin Feige said the following about the casting of Cumberbatch:
"Stephen Strange's story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity. In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character."
Having gotten over it and putting the departure of Joaquin Phoenix aside, I would have to be insane not be really happy about this. Benedict Cumberbatch is an incredible actor (check his acting credits if you doubt that) and is no stranger to big production films like this one (Star Trek, The Hobbit). I am sure that Cumberbatch will make the character of Dr. Stephen Strange his own, and make him become a stand-out character in the Marvel universe moving forward. I can wait to get the first look of Cumberbatch in costume, but I guess we will have to wait for that. Doctor Strange is set to hit theaters on November 4th, 2016.
