Rumors and speculation can finally be put to rest when it comes to
David Ayer's
Suicide Squad, the official cast for the film has been revealed and most of the previous reports were true. The last report to come out was that
Jared Leto,
Margot Robbie,
Tom Hardy and
Jai Courtney were in
final talks to star in the film, and apparently those talks ended very well. According to reports, the actors have been officially cast and will also be joined by
Will Smith and
Cara Delevigne.
Variety and
THR reported on the official casting for
Suicide Squad, and director
David Ayer later confirmed the reports on his
Twitter account. The film will revolve around a team of supervillains who work for the government participating in suicide missions in order to get reduced prison sentences. As for the characters the actors will be playing,
Jared Leto will play The Joker,
Margot Robbie will play Harley Quinn,
Will Smith will play Deadshot,
Tom Hardy will play Rick Flag,
Jai Courtney will play Captain Boomerang,
and
Cara Delevigne will play Enchantress. The reports also point out that there is still a possibility of seeing
Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor make an appearance in the film. The role of Amanda Waller in the film is still vacant, but
Variety says that the list of actresses being eyed for the role include
Viola Davis,
Octavia Spencer and
Oprah Winfrey, of which Winfrey is said to be the favorite.

Overall, I am very happy with the casting that was made for
Suicide Squad.
Jared Leto I'm sure will do an amazing job with The Joker, making the character his own and doing a performance to remember, he is an Oscar-winning actor so there should be no complain there. I still remain skeptical about having a new Joker appear in a film without Batman, but I'll probably come around.
Margot Robbie to me will make a great Harley Quinn, I can't say specifically why but I picture her as the character and think it is a great fit.
Will Smith as Deadshot I am also on board with, not much to say there. I don't know anything about
Tom Hardy's character Rick Flag but just on talent I assume he will do well. I have said before that I don't really have a big opinion on
Jai Courtney's acting, so maybe his role as
Captain Boomerang will change that. And with
Cara Delevigne I will have to take the word of the people involved in the film because I have never seen her acting, but I guess she looks the part. To wrap up I just want to say that I love the list of women up for the Amanda Waller role, they are all incredibly talented and any of them would be a great choice, so I really can't see why people are criticizing it.
Suicide Squad shoots next year in Toronto in anticipation for an August 5th, 2016 release date.
