Variety gave the exclusive on the Source Code sequel moving forward, with Anna Foerster directing and Source Code writer Ben Ripley returning to pen the script for the sequel. According to the report the is no actor attached to star in the film yet, nor is there a distributor for the film at the moment. The original film starred Jake Gyllenhaal as a soldier who relived again and again the last eight minutes of the life of a person aboard a Chicago train that exploded, in a effort to find the source of the explosion and those responsible.
I found the concept of the original film interesting enough to be curious about a sequel at this point, the obvious questions being where the story will go and how it will relate to the first installment. Having the original writer back I think is a good thing with the success the fist film had. The director attached only has directing credits for episodes of Criminal Minds and Outlander, which I have not seen so I can't really comment on it being good or bad for the film. It's still too soon in the project for there to be an heavy opinion on anything other than the fact that the sequel is being developed, and as far as that goes I'll give it a shot.
