Andy Serkis' 'Jungle Book: Origins' Pushed to 2017
For those of you who didn't know, both Warner Bros. and Disney are working on Jungle Book films. Jon Favreau will direct a CG-animated Jungle Book for Disney, while Andy Serkis will be directing Jungle Book: Origins for Warner Bros. using motion capture. Disney's version is set to be released on October 9th, 2015 and WB's was set to hit theaters on October 21st 2016, but the film has now been pushed back to October 6th, 2017.
Collider reported on the delay in production Andy Serkis' Jungle Book: Origins, reason of the delay was not specified so it's left to speculation. But according to the report, It is most likely due to the time needed in post-production and the busy schedule that Serkis is on. It's never pleasant to hear about a film delaying the release date, but it's hard to disagree if the film will benefit from the push as apparently this one would. Jungle Book: Origins will include the voices of Andy Serkis himself as Baloo, Christian Bale as Bagheera, Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Naomi Harris as Nisha and Rohan Chand as Mowgli.
