'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Character Names Revealed

In all the the excitement of the release of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer, of course had to come speculation, and in all of that speculation were included the identities of the characters that we got to see in the teaser trailer. Must of us thought we were going to have to wait a while to find out who these characters were, but fortunately J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm have decided to shed a little more light about the film by revealing the names of the characters in the teaser in a very creative way.

Via EW, the names of the characters in the teaser trailer were revealed through a group of numbered Topps trading cards, giving that vintage feel from the original trilogy. The characters in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer are Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Kylo Ren (Dark Figure), and BB-8 (Rolling Droid). So, we are still left without knowing who is playing that villainous characters with the lightsaber and to which character does the voice in the trailer belong to, played by Andy Serkis. Abrams added that the numbers on the cards are important, so there's also that to think about.

The reveal of the character names was great, and the way it was done was even better, it gives us more information and I'm sure plenty to talk about and speculate. I think J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm are doing a great job in revealing bits from the film just to keep us thinking and talking about it, without sharing too much too soon. Star Wars: The Force Awakens also stars Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker, it opens in theaters on December 18, 2015.
