'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Trailer

The wait is over, Disney has released the first official teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and it is amazing. After watching it a couple of times online I can't help but feel a little jealous of the people who will get to watch it in a theater today, but I am happy I got to watch it today anyway.

This teaser trailer is amazing, and every Star Wars fan out there must have loved it. As far a being a teaser it is a great one at that, giving us just enough to make our mouths water in anticipation for what is to come. This teaser trailer feels like Star Wars so the nostalgic factor is there, but also has the feel and look that it is a brand new Star Wars. I like that you get to see the new characters and can see that good and bad side, but the story and plot still remain a bit of a mystery. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker, it opens in theaters on December 18, 2015. Check out the teaser trailer below (via YouTube).

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Trailer Also To Be Released Online This Friday

If you were worried about not being able to make it to one of the select theaters that will be showing the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer this Friday, you need not worry anymore because you will also have the chance to see the trailer on Friday. It was announced via the Star Wars Twitter account that the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will also be released on iTunes this Friday.
The decision for the trailer to also be released online on Friday is curious, but good news for those of us not able to be in a theater this Friday. They are probably just doing this to avoid the teaser shown at the theaters being posted online, but I was expecting that the trailer would be released online after Friday. I think it's a smart move to get ahead of a possible leak, and now everyone will be able to see the trailer tomorrow. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker, opening in theaters on December 18, 2015.

'Now You See Me 2' Will be Titled 'Now You See Me: The Second Act'

Now You See Me 2 is already in pre-production in anticipation for their 2016 release date, and one of the cast member has revealed the title of the upcoming sequel. The follow-up to the 2013 film is set to begin shooting soon and it has been revealed by actor Mark Ruffalo that the film will be titled Now You See Me: The Second Act.

The star of the upcoming film went to his Instagram account (via Collider) and posted a picture from what appears to be a table read from the film holding a tag with his name and that of his character, with the title Now You See Me: The Second Act on top. There isn't a whole lot of information about the plot, but according to the synopsis of the film, the sequel will take place a year after the first film reuniting us with the Four Horsemen who will face a new enemy that will enlist them to attempt their most dangerous heist to date.

There isn't really too much I can say on the title, after all it is just a title. It is clever and goes with the theme of the movie, and tells you it is a sequel without having a "2" on the title. The first film didn't do too much for me, I felt it started fine but then lost me in the second half of the movie, but I am curious as to where this second film will take the story. Directed by Jon M. ChuNow You See Me: The Second Act will also star Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave FrancoMichael Caine, Daniel Radcliffe, Lizzy Caplan, and Jay Chou, hitting theaters on June 6th, 2016.

Natalie Portman in Talks to Join Steve Jobs Biopic

Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs biopic was picked up by Universal after Sony dropped the project and put it in turnaround, and like expected the project is still moving forward. A new name has begun negotiations to have a role in the film, with Natalie Portman reported to be in talks for a role in the Aaron Sorkin-scripted film.

Deadline reported on Portman entering negotiations for a role in the Steve Jobs biopic. Even after Universal picked up the project, the project is relatively unchanged. Danny Boyle is still directing with a script from Aaron Sorking, adapted from the biography written by Walter Isaacson. Michael Fassbender remains in talks to play Jobs, while Seth Rogen's name still circles the role of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. The film will still consist of three scenes taking place backstage before the announcement of an iconic Apple product. According to the report, Portman's deal closing could be the first step in a turn of fortune for a film that most of us know has had a tough time in development.

Though there was no word of what role Natalie Portman is up for, you have to see as a positive the addition of an Oscar-winning actress. Not to mention that with all the recent issues this film has faced, for it to remain attractive to this caliber talent means there is something special in this film just waiting to be made. Like I have said before in the article about Sony dropping the project, I really hope that Universal picking up the film will be the move that ends up seeing this film being made, and the possible addition of Portman may hint that they are moving in the right direction.

Guillermo del Toro Talks 'Pacific Rim 2'

By now we know of Guillermo del Toro's plans of making Pacific Rim 2 from comments he made more than a month ago, but there is very little known as to where the film is going other than it will be very different from the first. The director has now given more insight as to what we should expect for Pacific Rim 2, and also some of the familiar faces we might see returning for the sequel.

While talking to Collider during the DVD and Blu-ray release of The Strain season 1, del Toro revealed that Pacific Rim 2 will take place some years after the first movie looking at a world without the Kaiju threat, adding that familiar characters Geiszler (Charlie Day) and Gottlieb (Burn Gorman) would be returning. These were del Toro's comments:
"It's a few years after the first one.  It's not an immediate follow-up.  It is the world having been freed of Kaiju, what happens to the world after – what happens to the Jaeger technology once the Kaiju are not a threat.  It’s quite a jump."
"It's quite a different movie from the first one in that, but I think that two of our main characters like in the first one are Burn and Charlie.  They are really, really – I mean, honestly, they are probably the guys I have the most fun writing along with Hannibal Chau so just from a purely selfish drive, I like writing them.  I love writing for Charlie and Burn.  I mean, [Burn's] in Crimson Peak for that reason, because I love working with him.  You're gonna get a lot of that, but the Kaijus are very different and you're gonna see a very different type of the robots I think.  It's gonna be quite a different adventure."
I like these comments from del Toro, they really show me that his creativity is flowing to get Pacific Rim 2 going and that he has an idea in place to where the story is going. It would be interesting to see that world handling not being under attack by the Kaiju, but you have to assume that at some point the threat will be back, and like del Toro said in his comments, seeing different Kaijus and Jaegers. Pacific Rim 2 is still a while away, so we will have to settle for insight from the people involved until we can see material from the film when production starts.

Babble Spoiler Review: 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1'

After the events of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1  reunites us with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) shortly following the conclusion of the last Hunger Games. Katniss finds herself struggling with having lost her entire district and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) to the hands of President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and the Capitol, all while the rest of the districts look to her to lead the rebellion.

I will start by saying I enjoyed the film, more than the first installment but not more than the second film. I enjoyed the performances, with those of Lawrence and Hutcherson standing out the most to me. The emotional struggle of Katniss was really presented up front and we could see her being torn about being in this place of leadership that she never wanted to be in, being worried about her friends and family, and wanting to take down the Capitol. I was pleasantly surprised from the performance of Hutcherson, I felt the times we got to see him the performance was powerful and gave out that feeling of him being a prisoner of war, not to mention that twist at the end from him which was great and I wasn't expecting (I haven't read the books). I liked the tone and scale of the film, and like many people have said this is surely a very different film from the other two. This was very much a film about war, the Hunger Games are gone and this story is now about people rising up against an oppressive government, and it that sense I believe the film succeeded and was able to deliver that message effectively.

But now that I have said what I enjoyed from the film, there are also things I wasn't happy with. I had heard it before and shared the concern, that the film was unnecessarily being split into two parts and would suffer from it, and in my opinion it did. The first half of the film felt quite slow to me, I think the build up was too long and I found myself waiting for things to get exciting (for that I blame the trailers because they made me go in expecting a war to start and not just being set up for one), and it wasn't until the Capitol attacked that I got the feeling that the fun began. I didn't mind the cliffhanger ending, and it should be expected of any film with "Part 1" on the title. Although, they made me believe for a second that the film would end with Peeta chocking Katniss, and if that would have been the case I would have left somewhat annoyed.

In general, I did enjoy the film and had fun watching it, I highly recommend it. If you are reading this review and haven't seen the film you should do so, and if you have seen it tell me what you thought about it. I am very much looking forward to the next one to see the actual war that I wasn't able to see on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.

First 'Pan' Trailer

Yesterday we saw our first images, and now Warner Bros. released the first trailer for Jon Wright's Pan, giving us a look inside the origin story that will be told in the film about the popular characters. I enjoyed this trailer and made me feel that this will be a charming adventure film. The trailer serves its purpose to introduce the characters that will make up the film and that will be given an origin story, and I got the feeling that Peter Pan (Levi Miller) and Hook (Garrett Hedlund) will be working together to take down Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) before becoming eternal rivals.  This really does look like a different Neverland compared the one we have seen before, and I see that as a good thing.

Jon Wright's Pan will also star Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, Adeel Akhtar as Smee, Amanda Seyfried as Mary, Jack Charles as The Chief/Tiger Lily’s father, Taejoo Na as Kwahu, Nonso Anozie as Bishop, Kathy Burke as Mother Barnabas, Kurt Egyiawan as Murray, Lewis MacDougall as Nibs, and Leni Zieglmeier as Wendy Darling, hitting theaters on July 17th, 2015. Check out the trailer along with some character posters below (via Twitter).

First 'Jurassic World' Trailer

Apparently we didn't have to wait until Thanksgiving Football this Thursday on NBC to watch the premiere of the Jurassic World trailer, because Universal has released the first trailer online (suspected a leak maybe?). Whatever the reason was for the early release online, I'm glad that we got to see the trailer early and that it was released online because I wasn't planning to watch it during Thanksgiving Football anyway.

I liked this first trailer for Jurassic World, I thought it showed the basic plot without revealing way too much, and giving us cool shots here and there to get us excited about seeing dinosaurs in the park again. I read a lot about people commenting that the CGI looks unfinished and I did notice it in some places but like some of them pointed out themselves, this is just the first trailer and the film is still long enough away for those details to be finished for the release. I also liked that they kept the dinosaur that will be terrorizing the park hidden in the trailer, and I hope they keep it that way until the release. Directed by Collin Trevorrow, Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, and Judy Greer, hitting theaters on July 12th, 2015. Check out the trailer (via YouTube) below.

Michelle MacLaren Set to Develop and Direct 'Wonder Woman'

Warner Bros. wanted a female director to take on Wonder Woman, and Michelle MacLaren was in talks to get the job. Well, by the looks of it the talks went very well, because reports mark that Michelle MacLaren is set to direct and also develop the upcoming Wonder Woman film.

THR reported on MacLaren signing on to develop and direct Wonder Woman for Warner Bros. and DC. According to the report, in addition to directing MacLaren will also be working with the writers to develop a script for the film, but those writers remain nameless at this point. The report says that MacLaren had been a favorite for her work in Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, the director had been meeting with WB since August and her signing culminates a search that began this summer. THR also adds that Zack Snyder will be among the producers of the film, along with Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder.

I am very happy about this news, since Michelle MacLaren was my favorite pick among the other names also involved. Like I said back when she was in talks, having worked in such great TV projects and done an incredible job makes MacLaren a great fit talent-wise for Wonder Woman. The fact that they also ended up getting a female director for a film with such a female-empowering character is great, and the reports points out that she will be the first female director in recent history to take on a comic book film. I think MacLaren is a great choice and having her direct and develop this film will be a big plus. Wonder Woman will star Gal Gadot and hit theaters on June 23rd, 2017.

Oscar Isaacs Set to Play Apocalypse in 'X-Men: Apocalypse'

There has been recent talk about casting for X-Men: Apocalypse, the latest talk was around Cyclops and Jean Grey  but now the talks has shifted to another character. Just from the title of the upcoming film and from the end credit scene in Days of Future Past we know that the X-Men will be facing off against Apocalypse, and now we know what actor will be taking on the role of the title villain. According to reports, Oscar Isaac is set to play Apocalypse in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse.

Variety reported on Issac closing a deal with Fox to play the main villain in the next X-Men film. The report also says that Singer had been meeting with actors for the past couple of weeks, but their sources claim that Isaac had been the type of actor Singer wanted for the role and the favorite from the start.

Oscar Isaac wouldn't be among the actors I would first think of for a role like this, but after hearing about it I think that it's a fantastic casting. There is no doubt that Isaac is an incredible actor, and is apparently liking to work on big projects since he will also be seen in Sat Wars: The Force Awakens, so I can see him fit in a film and a role like this. I am assuming that much like Josh Brolin's Thanos, Isaac's Apocalypse will be a mostly CGI character so appearance isn't really important. I am really happy with this casting and can't wait to see what this Apocalypse will look and sound like. X-Men Apocalypse is set to begin production in Spring 2015 for a May 27th, 2016 release date.

First Images of Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard in 'Pan'

Warner Bros. has released the first images of Jon Wright's upcoming Pan film, giving us our first look at Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard and Levi Miller as Peter Pan. This version of the Peter Pan story is said to be an origin story of the character, and according to the director "This isn't exactly the Neverland story you know."

The images come from EW, and if they tell us anything, yeah this doesn't look like the Neverland story we know. I would much rather have the regular Peter Pan story being told in a film with the tone that these images have instead of an origin story, but I am still curious about it, and I guess they will want to move forward with the story if the film is successful. I am very curious to also see Hugh Jackman in this villainous role, but I wish they would have kept him bald instead of wearing that obvious-looking wig. I actually like the look of the film that you can kind of taste from these images, but I'll wait to see a trailer so a can have a more heavy opinion it.

Jon Wright's Pan also stars Garrett Hedlund as Hook, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, Adeel Akhtar as Smee, Amanda Seyfried as Mary, Jack Charles as The Chief/Tiger Lily’s father, Taejoo Na as Kwahu, Nonso Anozie as Bishop, Kathy Burke as Mother Barnabas, Kurt Egyiawan as Murray, Lewis MacDougall as Nibs, and Leni Zieglmeier as Wendy Darling, hitting theaters on July 17th, 2015. Check out the images below.

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Trailer to Premiere in Select Theaters This Friday [UPDATED]

After the announcement of Star Wars: The Force Awakens receiving a title the internet was running rampant with rumors and speculations about many things, and one of those thing was the trailer, a lot of people were speculating about a trailer coming soon and what the trailer would be like. We may still not officially know the contents of the trailer but it appears speculation was right about the trailer arriving soon, and according to the latest reports the trailer will be premiered as soon as this Friday November 28th during films playing in select theaters.

The Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer premiering in limited locations was first a rumor that came from a Reddit post (via /Film), but the rumor was later confirmed by Regal Cinemas who put out an announcement that included a list of the locations that would show the trailer (via Collider). The list was up for a while but was later pulled down and replaced with a humorous picture captioned "Many Bothans Died To Bring Us this Information. Check back soon for a list of participating Regal Cinema Locations!!!". This could mean the theater chain jumped the gun a little bit and released the information too early, so we will have to check back for an updated list. But for what it's worth, I'll put the original list of theaters below.

  • CA Irvine Edwards Irvine Spectrum 22 & IMAX
  • CA San Diego Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX
  • GA Atlanta Regal Atlantic Station Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX
  • IL Chicago Regal City North Stadium 14 IMAX & RPX
  • NY New York Regal Union Square Stadium 14
  • PA Warrington Regal Warrington Crossing Stadium 22 & IMAX
  • TN Knoxville Regal Pinnacle Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX
  • TX Houston Edwards Houston Marq’E Stadium 23 IMAX & RPX
  • WA Seattle Regal Thornton Place Stadium 14 & IMAX
If this does end up happening, I would think this is a smart move to try and get people in theaters this weekend to watch a movie and check out the trailer. However, I am skeptical that enough people would actually show up just for a trailer if you could watch it online not long after, but I guess we shall see about that. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker, it opens in theaters on December 18, 2015.

UPDATE (11/25/2014): A full list of the theaters that will play the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been released (via StarWars.com). 'The Hateful Eight' Behind the Scenes Pictures

Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight is well on the way to begin shooting as soon as next moth in Colorado, and one of the stars of the film Samuel L. Jackson has given us confirmation that things are moving along well to shoot the film on schedule. Then actor went on his Twitter (via Collider) and revealed a couple of behind the scenes photos showing us the cast of the film apparently during a script rehearsal.

Sure, these images don't give us any inside look at what the actual film might look like but I am sure we will get more revealing material once the film starts shooting, and with the rocky road that this film has had it's good to at least get some kind of confirmation that things are going well, and to me that's what these pictures offer. The Hateful Eight will also star Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Channing Tatum, Demian Bichir, and Bruce Dern, it is expected to open in theaters in late 2015. Check out the behind the scenes images and full synopsis below.

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

'Jurassic World' Teaser Clip, Trailer Premieres Thursday November 27th

The marketing team for Jurassic World is doing a great job in my opinion, teasing us just the right amount in order to get us excited for the upcoming film. They recently revealed a website that is supposed to be the actual site of the company that runs the theme park, giving us insight into the back story of the film. Now Universal has released a very short clip that along with showing us the first images from the film, announces that the premiere of the first trailer for Jurassic World will be this coming Thursday November 27th at 9pm ET/ 6pm PT during Thanksgiving Football on NBC.

There is really not much to say about the clip, it is too short and is pretty much just an announcement for the actual trailer. However, It does do a good job in teasing us with the footage, and the theme playing in the back does take us back to the first time we visited the park. Be sure to tune in to see the trailer on NBC or just wait for it to drop online, that's what I'll probably do. Directed by Collin Trevorrow, Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, and Judy Greer, hitting theaters on July 12th, 2015. Check out the teaser clip below (via YouTube and Twitter).

Jason Reitman, Ivan Reitman and Nick Hornby Teaming for Bank Heist Film

Director Jason Reitman is teaming up with his father Ivan Reitman and writer Nick Hornby to develop the bank heist film I Would Only Rob Banks for My Family for Fox Searchlight. The film will be based on a real-life story of the same title written by Skip Hollandsworth for the Texas Monthly, following an apparent ordinary family in Texas who pulled off two heists before getting caught attempting to pull off a third one.

THR reported on the joining of forces of Jason and Ivan Reitman with Nick Hornby to make I Would Only Rob Banks for My Family, the film is said to be a dramedy. Jason will produce and direct the film from a script adapted by Hornby, while his father Ivan will also produce.

This story from the article alone sounds like a movie, so after reading about it it shouldn't be a surprise a film is getting made about it. The only film I really remember seeing from Reitman is Thank You For Smoking, which I enjoyed, but I am also aware of his success with films like Juno and Up In The Air so I can see him as a great choice for the film. The last time he teamed up with his father was actually for Up In The Air, and that film ended up getting 6 Oscar nominations, so the partnership can only be seen as a good thing. As for Hornby, I know he wrote the script for the upcoming film Wild, starring Reese Witherspoon, and that film is getting quite some award buzz itself, so Hornby also has to be a plus for the team.

'The Taliban Shuffle' May Add Martin Freeman to the Cast

Paramount's black comedy The Taliban Shuffle may have have found the next actor to join Tina Fey and Margot Robbie in the upcoming film, which will be an adaptation of Kim Baker's book of the same title. The wartime memoir follows Baker on her arrival in Kabul and her experiences filing stories about militants, being a woman in wartime Iraq and Pakistan, plus dealing with boredom interspersed with dashes of violence and the promiscuous war-correspondent culture. According to reports, Martin Freeman is in talks to join the cast for the film.

THR reported on Freeman possibly joining Fey and Margot in the cast of The Taliban Shuffle. Freeman would play the role of Fey's love interest, a very dedicated Scottish photojournalist. Robbie will play a competing reporter, with Fey having the leading role and also producing the film.

There isn't really a whole lot to say on Freeman joining and his role, to me it's still to vague of a description to really have a heavy opinion on it, also I haven't read the book to know more about the story and the roles. He is a good actor and you can kind of see that he has a comedic side to his personality, so hopefully that will show and shine in this role. I will say that from the cast that is being assembled it looks like this film is probably one to keep an eye on.

Mel Gibson and Andrew Garfield in Talks for World War II Drama 'Hacksaw Ridge'

Mel Gibson could be coming back to the directing game after a long time away, this time to direct a World War II drama. Reports point at Gibson being in talks to direct Hacksaw Ridge, which reportedly also has Andrew Garfield in talks to star in.

THR reported on the negotiations of Garfield and Gibson for the World War II drama Hacksaw Ridge. The film will be based on the true story of war hero Private First Class Desmond T. Doss, and according to the report, Gibson would direct the film and Garfield would play the part of Doss, who received the Congressional Medal of Honor. Doss was drafted in 1942 but refused to kill or carry a weapon, he became a legend by saving 75 men during the Battle of Okinawa. If you read the original report you will find that this film has been struggling to be made for more than 13 years, but currently has a goal to begin shooting next year.

This true story sounds incredibly interesting, a story about a soldier that refuses to kill or carry a weapon and does these amazing thing is something I would really like to see in a movie. Putting all controversy aside I think Mel Gibson has proven to be a great director, so hopefully a film like this that is done well can get him back on track. I think Andrew Garfield is a great actor and he is choosing more serious roles outside of the Spider-Man franchise, so I think it would be great to see him in a role like this one.

Penelope Cruz Joins 'Zoolander 2'

Zoolander 2 is one on those long awaited sequels that has been trying to be made for a very long time, and it looks like now it is picking up steam to actually happen. The last we heard was Will Ferrell commenting that he was supposed to read a script, and now it looks like a new star has joined the film. It has been reported that Penelope Cruz has sign on to star in the sequel to the 2001 comedy.

Deadline reported on the addition of Cruz to the cast of Zoolander 2. The sequel will see Ben Stiller directing and reprising his role as Derek Zoolander, with the script for the film written by Justin Theroux. Rumors around the film also point to the return of Owen Wilson as Hansel and Will Ferrell as Mugatu, but no reliable reports or official confirmations have been made on that.

I have been in the camp of those who believe that it was a little too late for this film to be made, but having liked the first one so much I have also said that I would still watch a sequel if it was eventually made. With the success that Dumb and Dumber To had and it being a film in a similar situation like Zoolander 2, it proves that this sequel could actually be worth making after all. I would still think that making Zoolander 2 is a bit of a risk, but if it ends up being made let's hope other people are still interested in seeing this sequel.

Terry Rossio Boards 'Yucatan' to Pen Script for Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. appears to have found his next project outside of the Marvel Universe, with the actor's production company Team Downy along with Warner Bros. bringing in Oscar-nominated writer Terri Rossio to pen a script for the film Yucatan, based on the Steve McQueen treatment written in the late 1960s.

Deadline reported on the addition of Terry Rossi to the project, who previously wrote films like the Pirates Of The Caribbean series, Mask Of Zorro, and Deja Vu. McQueen's 1700-page template for the film was found after his death and was meant to be a star vehicle for himself, which will now be used used for the same purpose by Robert Downey Jr.  Yucatan will be based on McQueen's treatment that follows a renegade salvage expert in his search for Mayan treasure in the Yucatan Peninsula, the updated plot details are not known but it is said the film will be "using the original premise as a jumping-off point for a mind-bending adventure story."

I would have to wait to know more about the plot of the film to comment more on it, but I do buy Robert Downey Jr. in the role, I think his charisma would be a good fit for a treasure hunter. I do want to see him more outside of the Marvel Universe because I do think he is a great actor, maybe a project like this can achieve that. But this article is really about Rossio joining, and on that topic, adding someone to a project who has the tag "Oscar-nominated" is generally really good for any film.

Djimon Hounsou in Talks to Join 'Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur' as Mentor Figure

King Arthur may have found his mentor in Guy Ritchie's  Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur, as more names are added into the mix for the possible cast in the upcoming film. The latest name to be added is that of Djimon Hounsou, who is reported to be in talks to take on the role of the mentor figure for King Arthur.

Variety reported on Hounsou being in negotiations to land the mentoring part in the film. According to the report, Hounsou would play the part that would have gone to Idris Elba before negotiations fell apart, the role is descried as a Merlin-like character who will train and mentor Arthur in the film. The report also places Jude Law still in talks for the role of the villain in the film, as was previously reported. Hounsou would also join previously cast Charlie Hunnam and Astrid Berges-Frisbey as King Arthur and Guinevere, plans are for Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur to launch a six-movie franchise, but plot details still remain unknown.

I would like it if Djimon Hounsou gets cast for this part, I can really see him in this kind of role, to me he does have that kind of mentoring presence and his voice helps too, not to mention he is a great actor. Hopefully these negotiations do work out, so they don't have to find a new "Merlin". Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur is set to be released on July 22nd, 2016.

Sony Drops Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs Biopic, Universal Likely Acquiring

The road keeps getting rockier for the Dany Boyle's Steve Jobs Biopic, the Aaron Sorkin-scripted film has already lost two leading actors and now will apparently change studios. Reports indicate that Sony Pictures is not moving further with the development of the film and moving the project to a different studio, reports point to Universal Pictures as the most likely candidate to acquire the project.

Deadline reported on Sony putting the film in turnaround, with Universal moving in and making a play for the project. According to the report, Universal is expected to close the deal today with plans to continue development as quickly as possible. So the report tells us not to worry, because the project should continue being developed normally even with a studio move. Michael Fassbender was the last name attached to star in the film, which is said to be composed of three scenes that take place backstage before the launch of three iconic Apple products.

I am very disappointed to know that there is one more complication that this film is facing, but reading that this shouldn't really affect development does give me some relief. I am very interested in seeing this film, so I really hope that the studio move will end up helping this film instead of causing more issues. Hopefully the next pieces of news we hear on this film will be a casting confirmation and later on a shooting schedule and release date.

'Pitch Perfect 2' Trailer and Poster

Universal has released the first trailer and poster for Elizabeth Banks' directorial debut Pitch Perfect 2, reuniting audiences with the a cappella group we liked so much from the first film. This time around, the Barden Bellas are moving up from college competition and taking their talents to to the world championship of a cappella.

I liked this trailer, it showed us a lot of familiar faces from the first film and reminded us why we liked these characters, you can still feel a lot of the flavor from the first film but taken up a level. I liked that the trailer just revealed the main story and some comedic moments, but didn't give away the whole film in those two and a half minutes. Pitch Perfect 2 stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Skylar Astin, Hailee Steinfeld, Anna Camp, Katey Segal, and Adam Devine, hitting theaters on May 15th, 2015. New 'Inside Out' Character Posters Show Sadness, Fear, Joy, Anger and Disgust

Pixar has released new character posters for the emotions that will make up their upcoming film Inside Out. The posters feature Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), Joy (Amy Poehler), Anger (Lewis Black), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling), which are the five emotions that dwell inside the mind of 11-year-old Riley Anderson and that she must struggle with. I am very excited for this film, not only because of the originality of the concept but also because this will be a fresh new movie from Pixar not a sequel or prequel, I believe this will be the one to get us back to the Pixar golden era. Inside Out hits theaters on June 19th, 2015. Check out the images and the full synopsis below (via Collider).
From the tepuis of South America to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In 2015, he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all – inside the mind of an 11-year-old named Riley.
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Daniel Espinosa in Talks to Direct 'Boston Strong', Casey Affleck Drops Out

A hit and a miss for the movie about the tragic events of the Boston Marathon Bombing Boston Strong, the film has found a studio with Fox and possibly a director but has lost it's leading actor. It was reported that 20th Century Fox acquired the rights for the film, based on the book also titled Boston Strong written by Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge, and that the studio is already in talks with Safe House director Daniel Espinosa to helm the project. However, reports also include that Casey Affleck departed from the film.

Variety reported on the rights acquisition by Fox, with sources confirming the negotiations with Daniel Espinosa. They also reported on the departure of Casey Affleck, who was previously attached to star and produce, but according to the report, the deal with the actor eventually fell apart. The script for the film was written by Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy, and will follow the long manhunt to capture the two men that were believed responsible for the bombings, and also the city's reaction after these events.

It is good that the film was able to find a studio and if all goes well possibly a director, but I am disappointed that negotiations with Casey Affleck fell apart. He is a great actor and I believed that his attachment to the city and state would translate well with his performance, so it is unfortunate that he is no longer attached. Safe House was a forgettable film to me and I haven't seen anything else from Daniel Espinosa so I can't really say too much about his involvement in a film like this, I just hope that if he gets the job he is able to tell this story very well.

Chris Pratt Starring in 'Cowboy Ninja Viking'

Chris Pratt is a fast rising name at the moment, with the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, starring in Jurassic World, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on the way, the actor is becoming no stranger to big franchise films, but that doesn't mean that there isn't room for more. The actor is reportedly now attached to star in Universal's movie adaptation of the graphic novel Cowboy Ninja Viking.

Collider reported on Chris Pratt being set to star in Cowboy Ninja Viking. The story follows a characters named Duncan, who participates in a secret government program that transforms Multiple Personality Disorder patients know as Triplets (for their three personalities) into assassins. Duncan escapes from the program and uses his skills to go on the hunt for the billionaire behind the entire program, accompanied by his three assassin personalities of a Cowboy, a Ninja, and a Viking. According to the report, the latest version of the script will see the three different personalities physically manifest onscreen, but to regular people he will still be seen as Duncan, but points out that this is all subject to change when a director gets attached to the film. The report also points out that even though the film is without a director, with Pratt attached to star a number of people will probably show interest.

I had no idea of the existence of this graphic novel or that it was getting a film adaptation, but after hearing about it this sounds like something that would be incredibly fun to watch. An assassin not only with Multiple Personality Disorder, but with the personalities of a Cowboy, a Ninja and a Viking, I need not say more. Add on top of the that the personality and comedic timing of Chris Pratt and you can take my money, this sounds like the perfect film and role for him. I also very much like the idea of the personalities physically manifesting and being played by different actors, I feel that doing that way would better show contrast and conflict between those personalities. Anyway, this project sounds great, and with Chris Pratt even better, I hope to hear more about it soon.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' Searching for Young Jean Grey and Cyclops

By now we all know that Bryan Singer's X-men: Apocalypse will focus on the cast of X-Men: First Class or the people of the "past" of X-Men: Days of Future Past, however you want to see it. Being that the franchise is moving forward with the new cast, there are some popular X-Men characters that will inevitably have to be recast as well in order to introduce them in this new group. Some of those characters in need of recasting are Jean Grey and Scott Summers, or Cyclops, and it looks like Fox already has a list for possible candidates.

The Wrap reports that the list of actresses being eyed for the role of Jean Grey include the names of Chloe Grace Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld, and Elle Fanning, while for the role of Cyclops Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe, and Timothee Chalame are being considered. The report points out that Singer is aiming high to cast the role of Jean Grey, but the role of Cyclops is more open for a lesser known actor.

Like with all reports of this nature we must always keep in mind that this isn't a fact at the moment, and even if these actors are on the list for the roles they could end up going to someone else. As far as the roles being recast go, I am very happy to know that Jean Grey and Cyclops are coming back to the franchise. Those characters are very iconic in the X-Men universe, so having them return to the movies is a good move in my opinion. From the list of actresses up for Jean Grey I like Chloe Grace Moretz the most, they are all very talented but she is the one that I can see most in this role. I can't say much about the actors up for Cyclops because I don't think I have seen any of their work, but I will say that whoever they get I hope the character is handled a little better than in previous films. X-Men Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27th, 2016.

New 'The Imitation Game' Trailer

A new trailer has dropped for the upcoming film The Imitation Game, giving us a glimpse of the film itself and the performance of Benedict Cumberbatch, which are both included in the conversation when it comes to awards this year.

You can just feel the award buzz just from watching this trailer, specially from the little we see of Cumberbatch's performance. This story is incredibly interesting to say the least, and you get a feel of the powerful delivery  this film will give of that story from the trailer. Check out the synopsis and trailer (via YouTube) below.
In THE IMITATION GAME, Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Alan Turing, the genius British mathematician, logician, cryptologist and computer scientist who led the charge to crack the German Enigma Code that helped the Allies win WWII. Turing went on to assist with the development of computers at the University of Manchester after the war, but was prosecuted by the UK government in 1952 for homosexual acts which the country deemed illegal.
