Michelle MacLaren in Talks to Direct 'Wonder Woman'

The race for Warner Bros. to find the director for their upcoming Wonder Woman film is on, and very fittingly for a strong female led film, the studio is looking for a strong female director to take the reins on the project. The word at the moment is that the top choice for the job is Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad director Michelle MacLaren.

THR reports that the female director is in talks and is the main choice for Warner Bros. to take on Wonder Woman. According to the report, Michelle MacLaren has met with the studio several times, but it is unclear at what stages of negotiations she is in, and the studio has also met with other female directors including Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) and Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland).

Having a strong female director helming Wonder Woman is a brilliant idea in my opinion, and I am sure there are some of them willing and talented enough to do a great job. Michelle MacLaren sounds like a great fit for me, having directed in great projects like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones tells me that the talent is there, and that she can handle that essence of the mythology that should be present in Wonder Woman in regards to her origins and culture. I really hope MacLaren is the one to get the job and does it incredibly well. Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot and hits theaters on June 23rd, 2017.
