Deadline reported the possible addition of Channing Tatum, who would join Samuel L Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, and Tim Roth, among others. No other details were given on the big role that Tatum would have. According to the report, the film is expected to begin principal photography in January, but in a separate report THR states that the film will begin shooting by the end of this year. The Hateful Eight will take place in the early 1870s after the Civil War, and will center on two bounty hunters, a tough female prisoner and a local sheriff, who are waiting for a snow storm to pass by with the company of four men who may attempt to free the prisoner.
If a big name is what the film is looking for, then it is safe to say that Channing Tatum is a good choice. Tatum is already among the Oscar buzz talk for his role in the film Foxcatcher, but I haven't seen the film yet. From what I have seen of Tatum, I really like him in comedies, but I have yet to see him in a different and more serious role that will get me completely on board with his acting chops, Foxcatcher will probably be that role. That being said, I trust Tarantino enough to the point where if he does bring Tatum in, it would be because he saw something there that would add to the movie.
