Margot Robbie Could Play Harley Quinn in 'Suicide Squad'

Suicide Squad has been the talk of the internet over the weekend. Not long after it was reported that Jared Leto was being eyed by Warner Bros. to play The Joker, new reports hint that the Clown Prince of Crime will be accompanied by his favorite lover in the DC cinematic universe. The reports indicate that Margot Robbie could very well play Harley Quinn in the upcoming David Ayer film Suicide Squad.

Collider reports that sources have told the site that Robbie is set to play Harley Quinn. The character was first introduced in Batman: The Animated Series, as the girlfriend and henchwoman of The Joker. Originally known as Haleen Quinzel, she was a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum who treated The Joker but ended up obsessively falling in love with him and later joined him in his life of crime.

I grew up watching Batman: The Animated Series, so I really like this character. She is a lot more popular now a days, she has her own comic series, she appears in video games, she is pretty much considered part of the Batman mythology. When talks first started going around about Margot Robbie being in suicide squad, Harley Quinn was the character that I thought she would be up for, so these reports do make sense. I'm still not taking it as fact, but is she does end up being cast I think it would be a good fit. Robbie is quickly making a name for herself in Hollywood with the roles she has been in and those she has coming up, I think this role would be the great opportunity to join a big movie franchise. I am very curious as to how Harley Quinn will be portrayed in this cinematic universe, but whatever way that is, I have a feeling Margot Robbie will do it well.
