Jai Courtney Eyed for Deadshot Role in 'Suicide Squad'

The next film to come our way from Warner Bros. and DC after Zack Snyder's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is David Ayer's Suicide Squad, so the wheels are turning for this film to have all the parts ready when it begins production. One of the most important parts and the one that is getting all the attention at the moment is casting, with reports coming and going about who will make up the supervillain team. The most recent name to join the mix is that of Jai Courtney, with the actor now reported to be in talks to land the role of Deadshot.

Variety gave the exclusive about the Terminator: Genisys star being in negotiations to play Deadshot in Suicide Squad. According to the report, Tom Hardy, Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto are in different stages of negotiations to join the film. Leto is being eyed to play The Joker and Robbie is in talks for the part of Harley Quinn, while Hardy could land the part of a character named Rick Flag and Smith is likely to play Captain Boomerang. There are also talks that Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor could also be a part of Suicide Squad.

I haven't really seen a lot from Jai Courtney to have a really relevant opinion when it comes to his acting, and for the role of Deadshot I don't think his looks matter too much. All I can say is that Courtney is joining a bunch of big productions like the Divergent films and Terminator: Genisys, so Suicide Squad would be a new one, meaning he very well could be a good fit for a film like this. I think at the moment every report surrounding this film could change until it is confirmed, and with all the reports flying around I am finding it hard to take any one as fact until it is official. I hope an official confirmation on casting is not that far away, because I feel every other day we get a new name or a new character attached to this film. David Ayer's Suicide Squad is set to be released on August 5th, 2016.
