Matt Damon Confirms His Return to 'Bourne' Franchise for 2016 Release

Matt Damon's return to the Bourne franchise has been a question many people have had for quite a while, and reports that went around pointed in both directions. The most recent report that surfaced mentioned that Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon were in negotiations to return for Bourne 5, but no confirmation was given, until now. It appears negotiations went well, and confirmation comes from Matt Damon himself, who said that he will be doing Bourne 5 with Paul Greengrass.

With a little help from his friend Ben Affleck, the confirmation from Matt Damon came during an interview with E! Online (via Collider). When jokingly talking about Ben Affleck's physicality from playing Batman being an issue in differences in opinion while working together, Affleck said the following:
"Well, [Damon's] going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I've just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness. So….,"
Affleck possibly said more than he should have, and then Matt Damon followed the accidental reveal with a confirmation:
"Yes, [we shoot] next year. It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."
These comments not only confirm the return of Damon to the franchise, but also reveal that Paul Greengrass will return as well and that the film will be released sometime in 2016, with shooting happening next year. It makes sense to have Damon and Greengrass return to this successful franchise, so I am glad that it's happening. We will have to wait and see as more material comes out to know more about the project.
