EW (via Collider) gave us the first look at the characters from Terminator: Genisys and shared some details from the plot that this new film will have. According to the report, the new film will take place in 2029, but will include time travel to 1984. Terminator: Genisys will be a new take on the franchise giving nods to what came before, but the film will have new twists on the story:
Twist No. 1? Sarah Connor isn't the innocent she was when Linda Hamilton first sported feathered hair and acid-washed jeans in the role. Nor is she Hamilton's steely zero body-fat warrior in 1991's T2. Rather, the mother of humanity's messiah was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Since then, she's been raised by (brace yourself) Schwarzenegger's Terminator—an older T-800 she calls "Pops"—who is programmed to guard rather than to kill. As a result, Sarah is a highly trained antisocial recluse who’s great with a sniper rifle but not so skilled at the nuances of human emotion.I'm sure there will be people that will not be pleased with some of the changes the film will have on the original story, for me as long as it serves the film and helps improve on the quality of the movie I'm fine with the sounds of this. Directed by Alan Taylor, Terminator: Genisys stars Emilia Clarke, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke, Matt Smith, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi and Byung Hun Lee, opening in theaters on July 1st, 2015. Check out the EW covers below.
